Continue Browsing TripsYou are collected from your Marrakech hotel between 08:00 and 09:00. During the 45-minute drive south toward Agafay, your guide explains the quad buggy combo route, vehicle controls, and safety protocols. Arrive at base camp with time to adjust helmets, ask final questions, and feel the weight of the machine before you ride. The guide pairs you with a quad suited to your height and experience.
Ninety minutes in the saddle. You start on gentler sections to find your rhythm: brake feel, throttle response, lean angles through turns. Within the first 20 minutes, the nerves dissolve into focus. The guide leads you across hardpan flats, then up and down rocky ridges where you can see exactly how the landscape falls away. Volcanic stone glints red and black in the sun. No trails, no marked routes — just clean desert and the line your guide is cutting. You stop once for water and to check tire pressures.
You reach a Berber encampment or shaded pavilion at around the two-hour mark. Helmets come off. Mint tea is poured from a height into small glasses. The High Atlas Mountains rise to the south, their slopes visible in the afternoon haze. The guide discusses what you have ridden, points out landmarks, answers questions about the landscape and the people who live here. This is not a staged photo stop — it is a genuine pause where your body settles and your mind clears.
You transfer to a dune buggy: lighter, faster, higher seating position. The manual transmission demands more active driving than the quad. You navigate the same terrain from a different angle, surprising yourself with how differently the landscape reads from a buggy seat. Dried riverbeds, rocky outcrops, and open flats you crossed on the quad now demand different lines. Ninety minutes of concentrated, joyful driving. The guide follows in a lead vehicle, and radio communication keeps the group coordinated.
Both vehicles head north toward base camp. Equipment is checked in, helmets returned, and you are transferred back to your hotel by late afternoon (around 13:00 to 14:00, depending on pickup location). You arrive with dust in your hair, a clear head, and four hours of desert riding in your legs.
