Continue Browsing TripsMeet your guide at your hotel in Marrakech between 8:00 and 8:30 AM. The drive south toward the Atlas takes you past the city edge, through olive groves and village outskirts, ascending gradually as the valley opens. As altitude increases, the landscape shifts from flat plains to terraced slopes where apricot and walnut trees cluster. You will stop briefly in a small Berber village to orient yourself and meet local families. The drive takes roughly 75 minutes. You arrive at the argan oil cooperative around 10:00 AM, where women working in small groups demonstrate how seeds are cracked, oil is pressed, and bottles are filled. This is not a staged tourist show — it is an active workspace. You can ask questions, handle the materials, understand why this cooperative exists.
After the cooperative visit, you drive a short distance further up the valley to the trailhead at Setti Fatma village. Your guide leads you down to the river and along the stones toward the waterfalls. The walk takes about two hours round trip and is genuinely easy — no altitude gain, no scrambling, just steady progress on river-worn rock. The first waterfall appears around a bend, then the second, then the third. All three pour into pools clear enough to see the bottom. Many travelers wade in or swim. The water is cold year-round, even in summer. Time here is unscheduled — you sit on rocks, watch families fish, listen to water. The guide answers questions but does not rush. You return via the same path.
By early afternoon you arrive at a guesthouse restaurant with views down the valley toward distant peaks. Lunch is simple and good: vegetable tagine, fresh bread, olives, juice made from oranges or pomegranates depending on season. You eat slowly, sit as long as you like. The guide shares stories about the valley and answers questions about Berber life, trade, seasons, and changes over the past decade. By 3:30 PM the descent toward Marrakech begins. You arrive back at your hotel between 5:00 and 5:30 PM, depending on traffic in the city outskirts. The drive down feels different from the morning drive up — you are tired in the good way, breathing slightly differently after seven hours at altitude.
