You'll be picked up from your Marrakech hotel or the Jemaa el-Fna in the early morning (7:00 AM). The drive to Fes takes about 8 hours, but it's not monotonous—you'll pass through the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas, stop in the mountain town of Ifrane, and see the landscape shift from red earth to green hills. Your driver will handle the roads; your job is to watch. You'll arrive in Fes by late afternoon, check into your riad in the medina, and have time to rest before dinner at a family-run restaurant within walking distance.

This is the heart of the tour. After breakfast, you'll enter the medina with your guide and head straight for the Chouara tannery. You'll climb to a rooftop overlooking the dye-vats—hundreds of them, each filled with natural pigments. Your guide will explain the leather-making process, answer your questions, and introduce you to the craftspeople if they're working that day. Afterward, you'll explore the medina itself: the souks, the University of Al Quaraouiyine, the blue gates, and the quiet courtyards where artisans still work by hand. Lunch is on your own (your guide will recommend spots). Dinner is in your riad.

The drive from Fes to Meknes is just 90 minutes. You'll arrive by mid-morning and immediately head to Bab Mansour, the monumental gate that still dominates the entrance to the medina. Your guide will walk you through the attached gardens and the royal stables complex—an astonishing space where hundreds of the sultan's horses once stood. The medina here is less overwhelming than Fes, so you can actually explore without feeling completely submerged. You'll visit the mausoleum of Moulay Ismail and wander the quieter quarters. Late afternoon is free to rest or explore on your own. Dinner is arranged at a traditional restaurant.

After breakfast, you'll begin the drive back to Marrakech, arriving in the late afternoon (around 5:00 PM). Your driver can drop you at your hotel or at Jemaa el-Fna. The journey gives you time to reflect on what you've seen and to rest before evening. No activities are scheduled; this is pure travel time.
